In the last two days I have been to the Harbourside Markets and have been completely transfixed by the amazing quality that has been very thoughtfully put together by the providores whose produce is so fresh and enticing. My favourite at the moment is the Pasta Bar where you can purchase freshly made on the day hand made (not by machines) pasta, such as gnocchi that is so light, fluffy and the best I have ever tasted. Not even an Italian restaurant has produced such pasta. There is an array of sauces to choose from to complete your meal. Step into the next room and you are in the “Cheese Room” where an assortment of Global cheeses await. I purchased my Grano Padano for the pasta and it just finishes off the meal perfectly.
Oh the gourmet deli…where do you start…the “Olives”. If you love olives you must try their wood smoked Kalamata olives…to die for. They have traditional continental meat selection for your cold lunches or a light dinner and the most amazing cabinet full of condiments from Europe. In heaven.
There is the gourmet butcher where for the time poor you can purchase ready prepared meals to cook such as skewers, stir fry, pastry pockets to bake and if you don’t feel like cooking at all they have a wonderful roast bar where you can choose roasted beef, pork, chicken or veal shank with roast vegetables and potatoes, the incredible bakery with their sourdough breads and selection of cakes, the gelato shop for some delicious ice cream and then….
We tried Chocolato…what a lovely spot to sit in the winter sun and have a cup of hot chocolate or great tasting coffee with some delicious food.
Will be going back to try the other establishments but that is half the fun…..the exploring and trying…
Thank you Harbourside Markets for bringing such a superb foodie ‘Heaven” to the Northern Gold Coast. Keep up the great work….
