Friday Flashback: Casey Barnes 1

Casey Barnes as featured in the July/August 2011 issue of Gold Coast Magazine.

Loyal followers of GCM will remember last July/August we featured the extremely talented local songster Casey Barnes in our Men of the Moment feature.  At the time we recognised the Gold Coast local for his starring role on Australian Idol (where he made the top 12) and his contribution to helping our Brisbane neighbours when the floods devastated the area in January 2011 with his song “Never Break You”.

Over a year on, Casey Barnes is releasing a new album “Jet Trails” a heartfelt collective of tracks that takes the listener on a trip to many musical styles from pure pop to the country tinged, cruisy and beautiful ballads.  Casey has collaborated with the likes of  Rick Price ( who Casey wrote “Jet Trails’” opening track Michelle with), reggae artist Mark Shine and fellow Australian Idol contestant  Hayley Warner.

Much of the album was produced by Anthony Lycenko, the ARIA-nominated engineer and producer (Pete Murray, Xavier Rudd, Busby Marou), while Michelle was mixed by Grammy winner Jason Lehning, who has worked with one of Casey’s favourite artists, Mat Kearney.

The first single from the album Michelle comes out on iTunes this weekend, Sunday September 9 ( you can watch the video here) while the album will be in stores and available online on Friday September 21. Check out Casey’s website, facebook or twitter for further updates.

As a friend of GCM, Casey has kindly given us an advanced copy of his album to give away today. To win visit our facebook and share and like the link to this post. The winner will be announced this afternoon on Facebook. Simple!
